Game Room

Welcome to the Game Room at Smoky Mountain Tower!

When we bought Smoky Mountain Tower, we found it had a sound studio tucked down behind the garage. We never could figure out how to use it as a sound studio. But on one of our family visits, we sent our grandsons down to play in the room. They told us we should put some games there.

So that’s what we’ve done. When you come in the front door and turn right, you’ll go down a short hall and a few steps to our new Game Room.

We started with a Hoops game, which is actually four games in one. You can take turns shooting at two different sized baskets. Scoring is done automatically, and the game even talks to you!

Our second set of games was a combination foosball and air hockey table.  But unfortunately, we had to eliminate the air hockey game.  The problem was that the puck has a fan in it to provide the “air,” and it was very sensitive to overcharging.  We went through over a 1/2 dozen pucks.  When our guests recharged the puck, they left it plugged in too long and blew the motor.  The problem was not with our guests - it was with the puck that had not been properly designed.  We’ve been looking for a battery-operated puck.

Meanwhile, we continued to have the foosball table.  It works great and is fun for all ages.

Both children and adults and children  have lots of fun playing these games. But there’s more. In the hallway just outside the Game Room, we’ve put in a talking Dart Board. There are all kinds of possibilities with this board for both adults and children. And you don’t have to worry about getting hurt, because the board uses “soft-tip” darts.

As we have continued to watch for affordable games, we found the deal of a lifetime - a full-size (7-foot) REAL air hockey table.  Part of the miracle was that it was sitting in a warehouse just 4 miles from our house in North Carolina.  So we bought it, cleaned it up, and installed it in our Game Room on August 27.  Here it is:

Where’s the foosball table?  We’re putting it in our other cabin - All Decked Out.

We’re not finished. We’re still looking for more games. Keep checking back to see what we’ve added.
